- Scope: Heavy trailers (O_3, O_4) entering Saudi Arabia (SASO) and the UAE (GSO) require certified retro-reflective markings and sealed side illumination.
- Homologation Clearance: Compliance is mandatory for SABER (Saudi Arabia) and GSO CoC (UAE/GCC) customs entry.
2. SASO 2913: Saudi Conspicuity Tape Rules
- Mandatory Standard: SASO 2913 (Aligned with ECE R104 Class C).
- Color Requirements:
- Side Contours: Yellow / Amber microprismatic tape.
- Rear Perimeter: Red or Yellow tape.
- Marking: Approval logos (E-mark or SASO certification) must be visibly printed on the reflective strip surface.
3. GSO & ECE R48 Side Marker Geometry
- Spacing & Placement (GSO 42 / ECE R48):
- Front Distance: Max 3.0 m from the front towing point.
- Marker Pitch: Max 3.0 m between adjacent side lights.
- Rear Distance: Max 1.0 m from the rear end.
- Mounting Height: 250 mm to 1,500 mm from ground level.
4. Desert Durability: Thermal & Ingress Requirements
- Thermal Range: Adhesives and LED lenses must withstand 50°C+ ambient desert heat without delamination.
- Ingress Protection: IP68 / IP69K sealing is required to block fine sand penetration and endure high-pressure hot-water washdowns.
